Born from the INSEE Prize – the annual nationwide scientific competition for students in the Architecture and Construction fields – the “Huong Duong” Library Project surpassed hundreds of ideas to claim the top honor in the 2024 season. Not only outstanding for its feasibility and creative design, the project also touched the hearts of many with its compassionate mission: to provide an accessible, inspiring learning space for students with mobility impairments – young learners who overcome adversity every day in their pursuit of knowledge.
The “Huong Duong” Library is more than just a building; it is a symbol of sharing, perseverance, and the determination of a young generation. With a design focusing on comprehensive accessibility for children with disabilities, the library will be a place where they can not only read books but also interact, learn creatively, and enjoy a safe, comfortable space built with a deep understanding of their specific needs. The library’s lobby will feature a rest area equipped with heat-dissipating design solutions and materials, creating a cool and friendly green space. This area will not only serve as a relaxing spot for parents and students after lessons and activities but will also highlight the architectural beauty and unique identity of the building.
The project is primarily sponsored by INSEE Vietnam, in collaboration with partners including Kingspan Vietnam Co., Ltd., Nippon Paint Vietnam Co., Ltd., Manh Phuong Electric Co., Ltd. (MPE), Sika Vietnam Co., Ltd., R.E.E Corporation (Reetech), Knauf Vietnam Co., Ltd., GreenViet Green Building Consultancy, and the Vietnam Green Building Council.
Speaking on behalf of INSEE Vietnam – the organizer and main sponsor of the INSEE Prize – Mr. Dao Nguyen Khanh, Head of Sustainable Development & Corporate Communications, stated: “We have always believed in the potential of Vietnam’s young students, and the INSEE Prize serves as a bridge to turn creative ideas into meaningful community actions. The Huong Duong Library project, along with 11 other projects already realized, is a testament to that commitment. Through this project, we hope to spread a humane message about equitable education and sustainable development.”
The event was attended by the Board of Directors of the Vinh Long Center for Inclusive Education Development Support, representatives from INSEE Vietnam, partner sponsors, and the student team who developed the project.
In the coming months, the project will be constructed and completed in accordance with green building standards, using sustainable materials and applying environmentally friendly practices. The “Huong Duong” Library is expected to be officially operational in September 2025, becoming a practical and inspiring learning and extracurricular activity space for generations of special students at the center.
Today’s groundbreaking is not just the commencement of a construction project, but the beginning of a socially meaningful journey – where dreams are nurtured by knowledge.
