On September 6, 2025, INSEE Vietnam and eight partners officially handed over the “Huong Duong” Library project at the Vinh Long Province Center for Inclusive Education Development, opening a modern, creative, and accessible learning space for children with disabilities and developmental disorders in the province. The project proudly received the Lotus Gold Green Building Certification – VGBC.
Originating from the winning idea of the INSEE Prize 2024, the Huong Duong Library project by a group of students from the Western Construction University impressed the judging panel with its harmonious combination of feasibility, innovative design, and profound humanitarian values. From a simple blueprint, the library has now transformed into a tangible building – a place where students at the center can explore a world of books and learn to interact through the library’s facilities.

Designed to meet the Gold-level requirements of the Lotus Green Building Standard – VGBC, the Sunflower Library focuses not only on functional use but also on creating an open, airy, and nature-friendly environment. Architectural details were carefully calculated to ensure full accessibility for students, including pathways, reading areas, and common spaces. The electrical system is automated with high-efficiency devices such as LED lights, water purifiers, air conditioners, and fans, all rated five stars. Safety features include circuit breakers to prevent electric shocks, leakage, and lightning strikes. Over 80% of the construction materials are Green Label & EPD certified, sustainably sourced, and include non-fired materials and recycled steel to reduce emissions and promote a circular economy. The building is optimally designed and constructed to minimize emissions and conserve resources, contributing to environmental protection. Thanks to these features, the Sunflower Library was awarded the Lotus Gold Green Building Certification by the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) on September 3, 2025.

At the ceremony, Mr. Eamon Ginley, General Director of INSEE Vietnam, stated:
“INSEE Vietnam always believes in the creative potential of the younger generation and wishes to accompany them in turning ideas into projects that bring practical value to the community. The Sunflower Library is a testament to this commitment and affirms our continuous efforts toward educational development in Vietnam.”
This meaningful project was realized with INSEE Vietnam as the main sponsor, alongside partners including Kingspan Vietnam Co., Ltd., Sika Limited (Vietnam), Knauf Vietnam Co., Ltd., Nippon Paint Vietnam Co., Ltd., Manh Phuong Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. (M.P.E), R.E.E Electric Appliances Joint Stock Company, GreenViet Green Building Consultancy Co., Ltd., and the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC). After two months of implementation, the Sunflower Library was officially completed, offering students a safe and convenient space for study and activities, contributing to the improvement of educational quality for special-needs children at the Center. The collaboration of multiple businesses has helped turn the dream of a friendly, safe, and sustainable library for children with disabilities into reality.
