Did you know: Each month, INSEE’s waste management arm Ecocycle receives 1,000 MT of municipal solid waste (non-recyclable and non-biodegradable plastic and polythene waste )that would otherwise be in landfills, which is then channeled for co-processing in the INSEE Cement kilns?
These waste materials are safely disposed of through co-processing while recovering energy from them, ensuring zero harmful emissions.
INSEE Ecocycle is working with over 100 municipal councils across Sri Lanka to collect, segregate, pre-process, and safely dispose of municipal council waste via co-processing.
As part of these efforts, the INSEE Ecocycle team met with the Mayor of Kaduwela, Mr. G. Buddhika Jayawilal, and the Director of the Waste Management Authority of Western Province (WMA-WP), Mr. Nalin Mannapperuma, to review the progress and further investigate the ways of improving the efficiency of non-recyclable and non-biodegradable plastic and polythene waste collection, processing, and disposal. The meeting was also attended by other officials of WMA-WP and the Kaduwela MC.
We are expanding this initiative further and are committed to reducing the risk of overflowing landfills in Sri Lanka while contributing to the circular economy.
We want to see a cleaner, greener, and safer Sri Lanka. We care about the future.
