INSEE Ecocycle attended “World Ocean Day 2022 Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean”

INSEE Ecocycle Company Limited attended the “World Ocean Day 2022 Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean”. An event recently held by Marine and Coastal Resources Office 1 of Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, at Mangrove Forest Learning Center, Phra Chedi Klang Nam, Rayong province. Suchintana Viraratt (4th from left), Chief Executive Officer at INSEE Ecocycle, acted as a representative of the Group Company handed over 200 bags of cement to Marine and Coastal Resources Office 1, to build paving blocks from the plastic waste in collaboration with Pak Nam Prasae Community, Rayong province, in order to recycle the plastic waste and increase career opportunities and income for the community, received by Lieutenant Pirun Haemarak (3rd from left), Deputy Governor of Rayong Province.

Thailand’s ranking among the 10 biggest international contributors to marine plastic waste, over 80% of marine debris stems from land-based sources. INSEE Ecocycle has had an ongoing initiative called the MSW-RDF Project (Refuse Derived Fuel from Municipal Solid Waste) to extract combustible waste from dumpsites especially single-use plastics and non-recyclable materials such as shopping bag, food containers, sachet and packing waste. These will be used it as alternative fuel in its cement kilns, lengthening a landfill’s lifespan and plugging the leakage of post-consumer plastics to oceans. INSEE Ecocycle also establish partnerships with many stakeholders to adopt the extended producer responsibility (EPR) principle to take steps towards plastic pollution prevention.

INSEE Ecocycle also held an exhibition booth for information regarding the service of plastic waste solution, which is crucial and necessary, as the issue has great impact on environment and aquatic biodiversity. And to act according to INSEE Ecocycle’s policy of waste management sustainability, which also support the Group’s INSEE Sustainability Ambition 2030.
