WORKSHOP

Ocean Plastic Turned into an Opportunity in Circular Economy

Friday 7 June 2024, 08:30-13:30 pm

Grande Centre Point Terminal 21 Bangkok

Registration

The workshop will unveil the findings of the OPTOCE project overall, with a special focus on Thailand's potential. Diverse forms of high-volume non-recyclable plastic waste have undergone testing across China, India, Thailand, and Vietnam, showcasing their suitability for co-processing in local cement kilns. Notably, substituting non-recyclable plastic waste for coal hasn't impacted emissions of air pollutants, including dioxins. These cement facilities are projected to annually prevent a minimum of 100,000 tonnes of plastic waste from reaching the ocean, simultaneously saving at least 100,000 tonnes of coal.

This workshop offers a unique platform for stakeholders from the cement industry, waste management sector, environmental NGOs, government bodies, research institutions, and academia to convene and delve into the practical implications and potential ramifications of such sustainable waste management approaches, particularly in combatting ocean plastic pollution.

We believe that your participation and insights will enrich our dialogues and contribute to our collective endeavor towards a more sustainable future. Join us to delve deeper into the innovative utilization of plastic waste for sustainable energy generation in the cement sector.

Please note: This seminar will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation available in Thai. Participation in the OPTOCE Workshop is free of charge
